LaMSM laboratory

The research laboratory in mechanics of structures and materials constitutes a scientific research platform and a core of competence to support the regional, national and international development of the University of Batna in partnership with the rapidly expanding industrial sector of the region.

The research actions developed within the LAMSM revolve around three main axes, namely: the calculation and modeling of structures, the study of the mechanical behavior of Materials and their characterization as well as the interactions between coupled physical phenomena ( thermal-fluids-structures).

The calculation and modeling of structures relate to contact mechanics, nonlinear dynamics and intensive computing. In contact mechanics, research focuses on specific points: instabilities, adhesion, damage, wear, non-regular dynamics, multiple contacts of rigid solids. Nonlinear dynamics concerns both deterministic and stochastic analysis for the resolution of direct or inverse problems associated with strongly nonlinear vibrations.
The study of the mechanical behavior of materials and their characterization will be devoted to the prediction of the behavior of materials from the properties of the constituents and the microstructure, as well as heterogeneity and its relationships with the linear and nonlinear mechanical behavior of materials and structures. In addition, the challenge represented by reducing the size of components in microelectronics leads us to develop research potential focused on the synthesis and development of nanomaterials, used in particular in microelectronics, optoelectronics and photonics.
The study of thermal-fluid-structure interactions in the fields of mechanics, biomechanics and civil engineering concerns the mathematical modeling of the phenomena which govern the behavior of structures under the effect of different thermal and mass flows.
